Klinsmann Appoints Former World Cup Champion Berti Vogts as U.S. MNT Special Advisor

U.S. MNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has appointed former World Cup winner Berti Vogts to be a Special Advisor to the U.S. Men’s National Team from now through the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Vogts will aid in the development of training plans, help prepare scouting reports, and travel to observe matches of the USA’s opponents in the lead-up to the tournament and in Brazil.

Klinsmann Names 22 Players for USA-Mexico, Presented by AT&T, on April 2

U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann named 22 players to train in Phoenix in advance of USA-Mexico, presented by AT&T, on April 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium. Kickoff for the USA’s final match before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup preparation camp is set for 8 p.m. Arizona Time (11 p.m. ET), and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas and the ESPN Deportes Radio Network. Fans can also follow the match live on Twitter @ussoccer.

Jozsef Michna Receives Eddie Pearson Award

Jozsef Michna, a longtime FIFA assistant referee and State Referee Administrator in Florida, has received the prestigious Eddie Pearson Award for his years of service with the U.S. Soccer Referee Program. He was recognized at a March 22 ceremony in Chicago.

The ‘Mayor of Hannover’ Moves on

Three-time FIFA World Cup veteran Steve Cherundolo announced his retirement from playing professional soccer on Wednesday. The captain of Hannover 96 in the German Bundesliga is calling it quits after 15 years and is the only U.S.-born player to play his entire career in Europe.

U.S. WNT Blanks Korea DPR 3-0 for Seventh Place at Algarve Cup
