U.S. WNT Faces Denmark to Finish Group B at Algarve Cup

The U.S. Women's National Team fell to Sweden 1-0 on Friday in its second Group B match of the 2014 Algarve Cup at Municipal Stadium in Albufeira, Portugal. The loss put an end to the USA's 43-game unbeaten streak, which started in the 2012 Algarve Cup. The U.S. next faces Denmark on Monday, March 10, to cap off the group stage of the tournament.

Sermanni Names U.S. WNT Roster for Matches in Germany and the Netherlands

Coming off a championship at the 2013 Algarve Cup in Portugal, U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Tom Sermanni has named a 23-player roster that will travel to Germany and the Netherlands for friendly matches against two teams preparing for this summer’s European Women’s Championship.

U.S. Midfielder Carli Lloyd Breaks Bone in Shoulder

U.S. midfielder Carli Lloyd suffered a non-displaced greater tuberosity fracture of the left shoulder during the USA’s opening match of the 2013 Algarve Cup in Portugal. Lloyd left during the second half against Iceland on March 6 and was held out of the USA’s two other group games. An MRI revealed the break and Lloyd will be out of action for approximately 6-8 weeks. She will not need surgery.

U.S. Women’s National Team Opens 20th Algarve Cup Against Iceland

The U.S. Women’s National Team will open its 18th Algarve Cup in Portugal on March 6 with a match against Iceland at Municipal Stadium in Albufeira. It will be the first tournament match under head coach Tom Sermanni, who kicked off his tenure with two convincing wins against his home country of Scotland in February.
